Description

The Workforce Development Initiative is a core component of Florida's RHTP, designed to strengthen, expand, and sustain the health care workforce serving Florida's rural communities. Rural communities face long-standing shortages of clinicians, allied health professionals, and direct care workers, driven by geographic isolation, limited training opportunities, and persistent Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) designations across primary care, dental, and behavioral health disciplines. To address these shortages, the Workforce Development Initiative advances a two-pathway strategy aligned with the Clinical Training Investment Opportunity (CTIO) funding structure approved under the Agency Cooperative CMS Agreement.
