Description
Pursuant to Section 143-129 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, sealed Bids will be received by Orange Water and Sewer Authority from Bidders until 3:00 P.M., local time, on THURSDAY, MAY 14, 2026 for CIP No. 375-02, Project: “Burning Tree Water Line Replacement” at the OWASA Administrative Offices, 400 Jones Ferry Road, Carrboro, North Carolina 27510, at which time the Bids received will opened and read aloud. Bids will be received for a Unit Price General Construction Contract. The Contractor and all Subcontractors shall have valid North Carolina General Contractor’s Licenses for the type and value of the work to be performed. The Project consists of furnishing all materials, labor, equipment, tools, etc. unless otherwise specified, for the complete and operable installation of: Complete and operable installation of approximately 4,634 linear feet of 8-inch restrained joint polywrapped ductile iron water pipeline from the intersection of Raleigh Road and Burning Tree Drive through the intersection of Burning Tree Drive and Pinehurst Drive. Installation of approximately 831 linear feet of 2-inch SDR 17 PVC water main and 90 linear feet of 2-inch type “K” hard copper water main to be installed via open cut. Installation of all temporary and new permanent water services and interconnections, required to install complete and operable water lines meeting local requirements and requirements as described in the contract documents. Abandonment of approximately 5,470 linear feet of 8-inch AC water pipe by cellular concrete or grout fill. Applicable traffic control, restoration, erosion and sediment control, permitting, and other items required to meet local requirements and requirements as described in the contract documents. The foregoing description shall not be construed as a complete description of all work required. Beginning on FRIDAY, APRIL 10, 2026, the Contract Documents will be made available to perspective bidders. Printed copies of the Contract Documents are not available. Electronic copies will be transmitted to bidders by request through email, free of charge, by emailing kmattingly@mckimcreed.com. The Contract Documents may be viewed free of charge at the OWASA Administrative Offices, 400 Jones Ferry Road, Carrboro, North Carolina, Mondays through Fridays, between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. Bidders shall attend a mandatory Pre-Bid Conference at 3:00 P.M., local time, on TUESDAY, April 28, 2026 at the 400 Jones Ferry Road, Carrboro, North Carolina OWASA Administration building. Orange Water and Sewer Authority has adopted a minimum ten (10%) percent goal for participation by minority businesses in the total value of the work for this project in accordance with Section 143-128.2 of the General Statutes of North Carolina. Each Bidder shall be licensed under Chapter 87 of the North Carolina General Statutes. Bidders are notified that “An Act to Regulate the Practice of General Contracting,” was ratified by the General Assembly of North Carolina on March 10, 1925, and that this Act and subsequent Amendments, will be observed in receiving and awarding Contracts. Each bidder is required to submit a Non-Collusion Affidavit pursuant to Section 133-30 of the General Statutes of North Carolina.
